Welcome to 406 Financial Solutions! I have been working on starting a business for years now and I am excited to finally share it here with you. I want to give you a little background about myself and what the business has to offer you now and in the future.
My name is Nick Stamper, I am currently a Captain with the Billings Fire Department. I also am the owner of 406 Financial Solutions. I am married to my wife Kelsey, and have 2 children who are both in grade school. I started 406 Financial Solutions to help people not only understand personal finance, but also make good decisions and plans for their futures. I currently offer Income Tax Preparation services, and hope to offer Comprehensive Financial Planning in the future.
About The Business
I started 406 Financial Solutions to help people with their finances. Money is both complicated, and fascinating. The topic is often emotional, and its management has big implications for you and your family. Currently, I offer income tax preparation services for individuals, families, and small business. I would like to also offer compreshensive financial planning services in the future.
I will use this blog to update you on what is happening with 406 Financial Solutions. I will also post interesting articles that help break down complicated financial concepts and tax law changes, to help make sense of the changing landscape.
About Me
I grew up in Great Falls Montana and graduated from CMR in 2005. I grew up hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends. I love the outdoor opportunities that Montana has to offer, and have lived here all of my life.
In 2007 after a couple of years of going back and forth, I decided to enlist in the Montana Army National Guard. I had taken some college classes in Helena, but was mostly unsure of what I wanted to do for a career at the time. I joined as a Firefighter and went to Basic Training at Fort Benning Georgia in the summer of 2008. I went to Goodfellow Airforce Base directly after Basic, and attended a 13 week Fire Academy. At the time it was my greatest accomplishment, and I still consider my choice to join the service as one of the best decisions I have made to this day.
When I came back I was a member of the 1049th Firefighting Detatchment at Fort Harrison. I spent 11 years with that unit where I met some great people and received Firefighting training from around the country. I caught the “Fire Bug” and decided I wanted to work towards making firefighting a career.
In 2012 I was offered a position with the Billings Fire Department where I have been ever since. My career has been both challenging and rewarding on multiple levels. Most importantly, it has provided a good living for me and my family.
I have been married to my wife Kelsey for over 10 years now, and we have 2 children. They are my reason for everything that I do, and a constant source of support and joy in my life. Recently both of my kids have started grade school which has given me the time to start this business.
I have an educational background in both psychology and personal finance. My first degree I completed was an Associate of Arts in Social Sciences from the Helena College of Technology. Later, I completed a Psychology Bachelor Degree from the University of Montana. In 2018 I completed a Master of Science in Family Financial Planning from MSU Bozeman.
I spent one year Volunteering with the IRS’s Volunteer Tax Assistance (VITA) program working on individual income tax returns. I also spent one season working for HLW tax remotely. I also have satisfied the requirement of the IRS’s Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP), which is a voluntary educational program that gives me the ability to represent clients before revenue agents, customer service reps, and similar IRS employees. You can find more information about the AFSP here.
Conclusion
If you made it this far… congratulations! That is a quick (ish) background about me and the business. I look forward to working with you and working on this website in the future. Stay tuned for more updates, and I hope 2026 brings the best year yet to you and yours!
